2-Part Series - Live Online
Part I - Treating Church Hurt & Spiritual Abuse in Black Christian Clients
Black Americans continue to identify as Christian more than any other group—yet many are quietly (or loudly) stepping away from the Black church. One reason? Experiences of church hurt and spiritual abuse in spaces meant to offer safety, guidance, and hope.
When these wounds show up in the therapy room, are you equipped to respond with clinical competence, cultural humility, and spiritual sensitivity?
Join board-certified and Christian psychologist Dr. QuaVaundra Perry for a live, online workshop offering culturally sensitive, spiritually integrated tools for addressing faith-related concerns. Open to both pre-licensed and licensed clinicians.
In this course, you’ll gain:
A deeper understanding of how church hurt differs from other spiritual trauma
Tools to identify the emotional, relational, and spiritual impact of religious distress
Practical, ethical, and compassionate strategies to support clients whose faith is a source of both pain and healing
PLEASE NOTE: *Must attend full live workshop to earn all 3 CE's. No partial credit can be given. Replay access will still be available.
Part II - Did God Really Say? Discernment, Boundaries, and Healing in Black Christian Relationships
Anxiety and depression from relationship distress are common in therapy. But for many Black Christian clients, the pain is also deeply spiritual. When Scripture, spiritual authority, and God’s name are woven into the fabric of the relationship, the result can be emotional distress and confusion in the soul.
What may look like a “godly” relationship can actually involve spiritual manipulation, coercion, and control. These dynamics often leave clients questioning not just their partner, but their identity, worth, and faith in God.
Join board-certified and Christian psychologist Dr. QuaVaundra Perry for a live, online workshop exploring the unique cultural and spiritual dynamics that shape romantic relationships in Black Christian communities. Gain practical tools to support clients in rebuilding trust in themselves, in God, and in setting healthier boundaries without shame. Open to both pre-licensed and licensed clinicians.
In This Course, You’ll Learn How To:
Understand the spiritual, cultural, and relational influences that affect relationship decisions and distress
Recognize why clients may remain in unhealthy relationships, even with deep faith
Identify signs of spiritual manipulation and its emotional and relational effects
Learn strategies to promote discernment, accountability, and healing
PLEASE NOTE: *Must attend full live workshop to earn all 3 CE's. No partial credit can be given. Replay access will still be available.
